Webinar: Building Resilience – The Imperative of Inclusion

Everyone in public media is aware that most of our stations and organizations don’t adequately or fairly reflect our communities or the country we serve. That’s true when it comes to leadership, staffing, newsrooms, voices and sources on air, and audiences.

In the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, companies of all kinds, including media, are making public statements about the urgency of racial justice and some are acknowledging the lack of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in their own organizations. Many are promising to make changing that a top priority, not just because they want to “do the right thing,” but also because it’s a serious factor in their sustainability. So, what is public media actually doing to address the problem? In the next Building Resilience webinar, we’ll focus on stations that are committed to fulfilling public media’s mission of serving our increasingly diverse American public. What’s working and what’s not? How do we all move from words into action, from creed to deed?

Building Resilience” is a bi-weekly webinar series co-produced by Greater Public, Current, Public Radio Program Directors, and Public Media Journalists Association.
