Summary

This position manages the development and implementation of a membership strategy to attract, retain and grow donations and is responsible for setting and meeting budget goals. Additional responsibilities include planning and managing KBTC’s customer service, donor communication and donation processing.

Functions

  • Collaborate as part of a team of fundraising and customer service professionals to achieve KBTC’s fundraising goals and set overall fundraising, cultivation and stewardship strategy.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate multimedia individual giving campaigns, using direct mail, online, special event, digital and other giving strategies. Maintain traditional sources of revenue as well as transform the way KBTC acquires and retains members in a digital-first environment.
  • Design, implement and manage a donor engagement campaign that includes creating media experiences for donors and viewers as well as other stewardship activities.  Responsible for coordinating events as related to these activities.
  • Plan and implement direct marketing and donor communication strategies. Prepare written materials, including correspondence, solicitation materials, acknowledgements and regular communications.  Use a communication tone that aligns with the Development Department’s established style guide. Coordinate KBTC’s email communications and manage and supervise customer service communications and plans.  Plan and edit KBTC viewer guide.
  • Work with the Development Team to identify, cultivate and steward major gifts.
  • Manage donor database and data processing including ensuring efficiencies, transparency and security in financial transactions, database coding and donation processing. Develop, monitor and continuously improve donation processing and data entry to stay current with industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Supervise the accounting and reconciliation of individual giving revenue and financial transactions. Maintain procedures and records in accordance with applicable industry, federal and state regulations, Bates Technical College and KBTC policies.
  • Supervise Individual Giving Associate and Customer Service Associate.
  • Stay current with trends and best practices in fundraising and marketing and identify, implement and manage special projects to address industry changes.
  • Responsible for preparing budgets and management of financial operations of the department within the budget, goals and objectives of college guidelines and policies.
  • Provide leadership, development and supervision to staff to maximize the overall performance and ensure alignment of the department’s and College’s strategic plan, core values, vision and mission.

Non-Essential/Other Functions

  • Train and supervise community volunteers in job-specific areas to accomplish fundraising events and outreach efforts as required.
  • Accountable for keeping personal development up-to-date; adding to skills and knowledge through courses that may be available through the Bates Technical College courses, professional development committees, etc.
  • Participate actively and collaboratively on committees for college as needed including but not limited to staff recruitment, college councils, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience working for a non-profit organization with demonstrated experience in donor relations, communications, customer service and database management
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Experience creating written materials for a variety of audiences
  • Experience managing all aspects of project implementation, taking proactive ownership of projects and providing exemplary internal and external customer service

If necessary, alternative combinations of education and experience may be evaluated by Human Resources for comparability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of experience working for a non-profit organization in a fundraising capacity
