Job Description
Norfolk State University’s (NSU) campus radio WNSB 91.1, Hot 91 invites applicants for the position of Development Chief. NSU students gain valuable broadcasting experience through the radio station; a station that is sponsored by corporate sponsors, grants, state appropriations and the Hot 91 members.
The Development Chief coordinates and directs overall development efforts of all development initiatives. The Development Chief also coordinates strategies with membership and underwriting colleagues to secure corporate, foundation, government, and private funding for station operation enhancements. Additional duties include: 1. Develops, coordinates, and supervises major and minor fundraising efforts of public radio station WNSB. 2. Conducts ongoing solicitation of various giving resources in efforts to acquire significant funding donations. 3. Solicits prospective underwriting clients, grow Corporate giving, cultivates potential planned and major giving donors and works closely with marketing and community engagement director on special fundraising events. 4. Develops and utilizes successful technique that garner growing financial support from various concepts (i.e. listening receptions, membership drives, direct mail solicitations, car donation program, grant writing, etc.) 5. Maintains up-to-date database of corporate and individual donors, contest winners, registered individuals and WNSB alumni. 6. Publishes monthly electronic newsletter and posts on WNSB website and social media pages. Minimum Qualifications
1. Demonstrated experience in public radio fund development. 2. Demonstrated experience supporting institutional giving (corporate, foundation, and/or government). 3. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with donor databases. 4. Knowledge of social media engagement and fund cultivation. 5. Skilled in the use of radio station production studios. 6. Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and meet on-air membership campaigns goals. 7. Experience setting quarterly and annual fundraising goals.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Considerable years experience fundraising for a not-for profit organization, with preference given to public radio station.
