The Michigan Radio Marketing Assistant reports to the Marketing Director and assists in all aspects of station promotion and event management. This includes assisting with promotional activities, event management, and day to day operations of the marketing department. The primary duties of the position are as follows:
Assist in writing and editing station email newsletters and listener email communication, along with maintaining station e-newsletter database
Assist in planning, producing and representing station at events and promotional activities –
Help initiate and handle follow up and documentation associated with station media partnerships
Assist with the creation and distribution of station press releases and promotional announcements
Work with media representatives on ad placements for station marketing campaigns (5%)
Assist with the design and creation of other online, print and on-air communications as needed
Maintain and approve items for station events calendar
Assist in maintaining schedules and documenting progress on key marketing projects

Bachelor’s degree preferred. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, possess good writing and proofreading skills, be detail oriented, and well organized. Must have the ability to collaborate with colleagues in other departments, interact with the public, and work evening and weekend events, as needed. Good computer and data entry skills are needed as well as familiarity with email communication platforms. Good understanding of marketing principles and 1-5 years of previous work experience in the marketing field is preferred.
